Czech "super benefit" from October 2026: rent limits by district and longer protection for single parents
From 1 October 2026 the state social assistance benefit uses rent limits for 77 districts. Single parents with a child under 15 get stronger protection.

From 1 October 2026 new parameters apply to the state social assistance benefit (dávka státní sociální pomoci), known as the "super benefit". The Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs announced them on 2 October. The changes are based on an analysis of about 270,000 approved applications.
A single parent caring for a child under 15 now counts as a vulnerable person (Act No. 151/2025 Coll., Section 7(1)(e)). Until now this applied only up to the child's 7th birthday. Vulnerable households get a more favourable calculation and a higher rent limit. According to the ministry, about 28,000 households are affected.
The maximum rent the Labour Office takes into account (normativní nájemné) is now set separately for each district, with Prague counted as one district. It is based on the median of actual rents in the district (Act No. 151/2025 Coll., Section 28), and on the 75th percentile for vulnerable households (Section 29). The subsistence minimum for one person has also risen from CZK 4,860 to CZK 5,500 (Act No. 110/2006 Coll., Section 2).
What it means for you
- You already receive the benefit: you do not need to apply again. The new amounts apply at the regular review of your entitlement.
- You are raising a child aged 7–14 on your own: you now count as a vulnerable person, so your benefit may rise.
- You pay high rent and get no benefit: check the table of limits for your district on the MPSV website. Applications go to the Labour Office (Úřad práce ČR).
- You are a foreign national: entitlement depends on your type of residence, for example permanent residence (Act No. 151/2025 Coll., Section 15(1)).
