How much paint, tiles and flooring to buy and roughly what it costs.

How we calculate

Paint: area × 2 coats ÷ 10 m² per 1 kg (Primalex Plus coverage according to shops 10–14 m²/kg); primer 6 m² per 1 litre undiluted.
Tiles and floor: area + allowance for cutting (default 10 %, shops recommend 5–10 %), tiles rounded up to whole boxes of 1.44 m²; adhesive 4 kg/m² (Cemix XXL Flex data for tiles over 30 cm: 4–6 kg/m²; smaller formats need less).
Prices incl. VAT from the Hornbach, Bauhaus and OBI online shops, seen 23 October 2026: Budget = cheapest, Typical = common product, Higher = pricier product. Prices change with promotions.
