How we calculate
- Household spending: Czech Statistical Office, Household Budget Survey 2025 — food and non-alcoholic drinks per person per year; week = year / 52, month = year / 12.
- Households with children spend less per person than households without children, so we calculate by household type (3 or more children as for 2 — the Statistical Office gives no other figure). Thrifty and More = the household-type figure × the ratio of the lowest or highest income fifth to the average.
- Food prices: Czech Statistical Office, average consumer prices for the whole Czech Republic. The Office does not publish prices by city, so the result does not depend on the city.
- We do not include eating out, school and workplace meals or alcohol.
